Summer Reading Kickoff Celebration – Tuesday, June 7th

Come celebrate summer reading with us at our carnival-style kickoff, featuring face painting, balloon art, games, and a petting zoo*! If you haven’t registered yet, this is the perfect day to sign up!


*This program was moved inside due to inclement weather and the petting zoo was rescheduled for Wednesday, June 15th.

Movie Showing at Gem Theater – Wednesday, June 8th

For this program, we will enjoy a showing of Pixar’s Luca! The program will be held at Etowah’s historic Gem Theater. We will be meeting at the library for lunch at 1:00pm, then walking as a group to the theater.

Shark Lady Suncatchers – Thursday, June 9th

This program features storytime with our children’s librarian and a shark-themed suncatcher craft. We will be reading Shark Lady by Jess Keating.

Touch-A-Truck with Etowah Fire Department – Tuesday, June 14th

The folks from the Etowah Fire Department will be visiting us at the library for this program. We will be reading My Mom is a Firefighter by Lois G. Grambling for storytime. Afterwards, we will meet some of our local firefighters and see the fire truck up close!

Petting Zoo Program – Wednesday, June 15th

For this program, there will be a petting zoo at the library! We will be reading Fiona the Hippo by Richard Cowdrey for storytime, then coming face-to-face with some real-life baby animals.

Tidepool Animals at Crystal Cove State Park – Thursday, June 16th

For this program, State Park interpreter Alex Anderson will be paying us a virtual visit from beautiful Crystal Cove beach in California! She will be teaching us all about tide pools and the amazing creatures that live there.

Jellyfish Lantern Program – Tuesday, June 21st

This program features storytime with our children’s librarian and a jellyfish-themed craft. We will be reading Jellies: The Life of Jellyfish by Twig C. George.

Pirate Program – Wednesday, June 22nd

This program features storytime with our children’s librarian and a pirate-themed craft. We will be reading The Pirate Cruncher by Donny Duddle.

River Ecology with Hiwassee River Rangers – Thursday, June 23rd

Rangers from Hiwassee/Ocoee Scenic River State Park will be bringing animal ambassadors to the library and teaching us about river ecology.

Meet & Greet with Etowah Police Department – Tuesday, June 28th

The folks from the Etowah Police Department will be visiting us at the library for this program. Come say hello to our officers and see the police car up close! We will be reading Very Lulu: The (Mostly) True Story of a Training School Dropout by Stephanie Campisi for storytime.

Octopus Slime Program – Wednesday, June 29th

This program features storytime with our children’s librarian and an octopus-themed slime craft. We will be reading How to Put an Octopus to Bed by Sherri Duskey Rinker.

Boats: Sink or Float – Thursday, June 30th

This program features storytime with our children’s librarian and a boat-themed craft. We will be reading Ocean Meets Sky by The Fan Brothers.

Ocean Scavenger Hunt Program – Tuesday, July 5th

This program features storytime with our children’s librarian and an ocean-themed scavenger hunt. We will be reading Dolphin Baby! By Nicola Davies.

Mermaid Program – Wednesday, July 6th

This program features storytime with our children’s librarian and a mermaid-themed craft. We will be reading The Mermaid by Jan Brett.

Author Meet & Greet: Stephanie Campisi – Thursday, July 7th

Local author Stephanie Campisi will be hosting storytime featuring her new book, Axolotls: Day to ZZZ. After storytime, we will do a fun axolotl-themed craft.

Recycling Program with Bill Freeman – Tuesday, July 12th

Bill Freeman from Etowah’s recycling center will be hosting storytime and leading us in a craft using recycled materials. He will be reading The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires.

Coral Reef Program – Wednesday, July 13th

This program features storytime with our children’s librarian and a coral reef-themed craft. We will be reading Over in the Ocean, In a Coral Reef by Marianne Berks.

Summer Reading Wrap-Up and Prize Raffle – Thursday, July 14th

Turn in your reading logs and join us for a prize raffle! This is the last day to log your reading.
