Summer Reading Kickoff Celebration – Tuesday, June 6th

Come celebrate summer reading with us at our carnival-style kickoff, featuring face painting, balloon art, games, and bounce houses! This program will be held at the Etowah Community Center (155 Robinson Street, Etowah, TN).

If you haven’t registered for Summer Reading yet, this is the perfect day to sign up!

Movie Showing at Gem Theater – Wednesday, June 7th

For this program, we will enjoy a free showing of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish! The program will be held at Etowah’s historic Gem Theater. We will be meeting at the library for lunch at 1:00pm, then walking as a group to the theater.

Love & Kindness Program – Thursday, June 8th

This program features storytime with our children’s librarian and an adorable lovebug clip craft. We will be reading Cookie Kindness by Melanie Demmer. 

STEAM Week: Test Your Memory – Tuesday, June 13th

This program features storytime with our children’s librarian and fun test-your-memory game. We will be reading Once Upon a Memory by Nina Laden.

STEAM Week: Bartholomew & the Oobleck – Wednesday, June 14th

For this program, we will be reading Bartholomew and the Oobleck by Dr. Suess, then learning how to create our very own Oobleck (slime).

STEAM Week: An Electromagnetic Adventure with Mr. Bond’s Science Guys – Thursday, June 15th

Join us for an electromagnetic adventure! Test your strength with our electromagnet tug of war, launch rings into the air with our electromagnetic pulse generator, and watch sparks fly with our van de graaff generator. Experience the future of transportation with our levitating magnet train!

Very Hungry Caterpillar Paper Chains – Tuesday, June 20th

For this program, we will read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, then make our very own paper chain caterpillars.

Build Your Own Bookmark – Wednesday, June 21st

This program features storytime with our children’s librarian and a bookmark craft. We will be reading The Right Move by Jason Powe. 

The Cat in the Hat – Thursday, June 22nd

For this program, we will be reading The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Suess, followed by a Thing 1 & Thing 2 blowpainting craft.

Decorate a Flower Pot – Tuesday, June 27th

This program features storytime with our children’s librarian and a flower pot decorating craft. Participants will be given their own flower pot and seeds to grow at home. We will be reading Miguel’s Community Garden by JaNay Brown-Wood.

The Little White Owl – Wednesday, June 28th

This program features storytime with our children’s librarian and an owl-themed craft. We will be reading The Little White Owl by Tracey Corderoy. 

Petting Zoo with CW Farms – Thursday, June 29th

For this program, there will be a petting zoo at the library! We will be reading Funny Farm by Mark Teague for storytime, then coming face-to-face with some real-life animals at the petting zoo. 

Bendy Snakes – Wednesday, July 5th

This program features storytime with our children’s librarian and a snake-themed craft. We will be reading Never Fear, Snake My Dear! by Rolf Siegenthaler.

Enviroscape with Hiwassee River Rangers – Thursday, July 6th

Rangers from Hiwassee/Ocoee Scenic River State Park will be bringing animal ambassadors to the library and teaching us about river ecology. For storytime, we will be reading What if Everybody Did That? By Ellen Javernick.

Rainbow Heart Suncatchers – Tuesday, July 11th

This program features storytime with our children’s librarian and a rainbow-themed suncatcher craft. We will be reading Finding Kindness by Deborah Underwood.

CHS Cheer Team & Teamwork Program – Tuesday, July 12th

The Central High School Cheer Team will be performing at the library and leading us in a program about the importance of teamwork! For storytime, we will be reading Unstoppable by Adam Rex.

Summer Reading Wrap-Up and Prize Raffle – Thursday, July 13th

Turn in your reading logs and join us for a prize raffle! This is the last day to log your reading.
