Our Mission, Policy & Procedures
Our Mission Statement
Guided by the past and focused on the future, it is the mission of the Etowah Carnegie Library to be the welcoming heart of our community where all come to learn, discover, create, and connect by providing access to a broad collection of materials, technology and high quality services that promote lifelong learning in a welcoming, community-centered facility. We celebrate ideas, promote creativity, connect people, and enrich lives.
Our Vision Statement
It is the vision of the Etowah Carnegie Library to be a gateway to life-long learning by offering a full spectrum of services, materials, technology and programming by providing free, open, unrestricted access to its collections and services. We are committed to connecting our patrons to the ideas, information and materials they wish to explore through materials, programs and services that represent the needs of our diverse community.
The Etowah Carnegie Library endorses and embraces the American Library Association’s Equity of Access Statement: “Equity of access means that all people have the information they need-regardless of age, education, ethnicity, language, income, physical limitations or geographic barriers. It means they are able to obtain information in a variety of formats-electronic, as well as print. It also means they are free to exercise their right to know without fear of censorship or reprisal.”
