Genealogical resources are available through the Tennessee State Library and Archives (TSLA) in Nashville. Search vital records, Tennessee newspapers, county or census records. Special features include searchable military records, a manuscript guide, historical photos and images, and many services that are available through the mail.

McMinn County Historical Society & Archives
The McMinn County Historical Society and Archives is a 501(c)3 historical organization dedicated to the preservation of McMinn County archives and history for future generations. The archive office is located in downtown Athens, Tennessee.

The Tennessee Electronic Library (TEL) is an online library that gives Tennessee residents access to magazines, journals, newspapers, essays, e-books, primary source materials, test preparation, homework help, genealogy records, career search, and more. TEL resources are available free to the public from any computer with Internet access in Tennessee.
TEL's genealogical resources include access to HeritageQuest and Ancestry.com, as well as newspaper records including The Knoxville News Sentinel, The Memphis Commercial Appeal, and The Tennessean.
